Our Needs Assessment is a forensic engineering process that analyzes your specific algorithms, data movement patterns, and user workflows. We don't just ask "how many cores do you need?"—we identify the exact balance of memory bandwidth, interconnect latency, and I/O throughput required to accelerate your specific time-to-insight.
1. Scientific Workload Profiling
We dissect your primary research codes to determine their computational "Fingerprint":
- Compute-Bound: Does your code require high clock speeds or massive core density? (e.g., Quantum Chemistry)
- Memory-Bound: Is performance throttled by GB/s per core? (e.g., CFD / Weather)
- Communication-Bound: Does the code scale across nodes via MPI? (e.g., Lattice QCD)
- I/O-Bound: Are large checkpoints causing massive filesystem stalls? (e.g., Bio-Informatics)
2. The Architectural Selection Matrix
Accelerator Strategy
Evaluating if your workload is ready for NVIDIA Blackwell Tensor Cores or if it requires the FP64 precision of AMD Instinct or Intel Xeon CPUs.
Fabric Requirements
Determining if InfiniBand NDR is necessary for low-latency collectives or if RoCE v2 on high-speed Ethernet provides a better cost-to-performance ratio.
Storage Hierarchy
Mapping the data lifecycle from ultra-fast NVMe tiers to massive Lustre/GPFS scratch space and long-term object storage.
3. Operational & Environmental Constraints
HPC doesn't exist in a vacuum. We assess the physical and logical boundaries of the project:
Power & Cooling
Can your data center handle 40kW-100kW per rack? We evaluate air vs. liquid cooling requirements (DLC).
Security Compliance
Assessment of GDPR, HIPAA, or sovereign data requirements that dictate air-gapping or encryption policies.
Skills Gap Analysis
